Elise E. Singer

Elise Singer, of counsel, is an experienced antitrust, class action, first amendment and commercial litigator. Elise graduated from the University of Chicago (with honors), the University of Michigan Law School (cum laude), and practiced for 20 years at a large firm based in Philadelphia, the last sixteen as a litigation partner.

Since joining Fine Kaplan as Of Counsel in 2006, her practice has focused on antitrust class actions. She has assisted a number of recent matters, including Interchange, Municipal Derivatives, Blood Plasma, and Polyols.

Experience

Over the course of her career as a litigator, Ms. Singer has successfully tried a number of cases to verdict, ranging from medical malpractice to criminal anti-trust. Her significant accomplishments include a jury verdict in favor of her client and against James Beasley, the then dean of the plaintiffs' bar in Philadelphia. Her cases have resulted in favorable opinions by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on the issue of corporate venue and by the Pennsylvania Superior Court on the standards for expert testimony. She has successfully handled a number of patent infringement matters on behalf of her clients. On two separate occasions, she achieved summary judgment in favor of her client in a § 10(b)(5) securities class action.

Ms. Singer served as an adjunct faculty member at the Beasley School of Law where she has taught Federal Civil Procedure II in 2011 through 2012. In addition, she recently served as a law clerk for the Honorable Susan I. Schulman of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Civil Division.
